You may have heard skincare experts discuss the pros and cons of using a facial toner. Some feel that they are an essential component of a good skincare routine, while others feel they are unnecessary. For example, some dermatologists recommend only alcohol based toners for Oily Skin, and feel all skin types do not need.
If you talk to most beauticians, they will tell you that toners are an essential part of any Skin Care routine. So, where does the truth lie? Maybe somewhere in between. I am convinced that a really soft and well formulated toner, an important step in your skincare routine. Does that you use it religiously day and night? Not necessarily. However, regular use of great benefit as I will discuss later.
Toners have developed a long way of the heavily laden alcohol based ones, although many still exist. When I say spirit, I refer to alcohol as drying SD Alcohol 40. In this context, some dermatologists suggest these types of formulations for oily / very oily skin think of the added alcohol control excess oil production.
However, in the long term may, alcohol-based products to produce more oil. Drying your skin with hard alcohol or witch hazel can send a signal to your sebaceous glands to pump out more oil. In this If so, you end up with skin that not only more fat, but that may be susceptible to break outs too. Ingredients that strip the skin dry and can negatively affect your skin acid mantle, which in turn could lead to further problems such as pimples or acne, slightly acid may help prevent skin bacteria that can cause breakouts.
It seems also some confusion regarding products as Astringents and sold as "toner." Is there a difference between the two? The experts seem to be divided on this issue. The term usually describes astringent products containing alcohol, while not toners. However, if you look at the many products out there, will you have many "toner" containing alcohol.
Astringents are designed to help control oil production by removing the top layer of the skin. Some may whether or not contribute to the creation of larger pore reduction. However, most products labeled, "Astringents" ingredients besides alcohol more often can be irritating or drying. For example many contain peppermint, menthol and / or eucalyptus.
Instead use of natural ingredients with gentle astringent features such as Green Tea and chamomile. So what are the potential benefits of using a properly formulated gentle, alcohol-free toner?
Keeping your skin ACID Mantle HEALTHY
A good toner should always set a slightly acidic pH. This is close to a pH of your skin when it is balanced and healthy. A toner can help restore your skin pH after cleansing (if you used a more alkaline detergent). pH-value can also be affected by a poor diet, stress and environmental factors.
Remove last traces of make-up
A mild toner to remove any minute traces of make-up left behind. If you sometimes a little make-up links on your cotton pad found, it is not necessary that your detergent is ineffective. Although very strong alkaline cleaning your face feeling squeaky clean can make, they will dry and strip acid mantle of your skin. Make sure you also use a cleanser that is gentle with a slightly acidic pH.
Hydration
A gentle toner can make your skin oil-free moisture. Products with a large quantity of ingredients like aloe vera and natural humectants to help immediately after cleaning the skin hydrate. In this case you may not so much moisturizer, or in the case of oily skin, no, especially at bedtime.
ANTI-AGING BENEFITS
Adding antioxidants with anti-aging ingredients like resveratrol, green tea and spirulina can help keep skin looking younger. Additional ingredients that can help brighten skin like blueberries and vitamin B 3, can be very beneficial also. These types of ingredients are suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. Toners can also help your moisturizer or treatment product absorb better.
GO FREE FRAGRANCE
Always use a toner that smell Fri Many people react to the smell, usually a kind of allergic reaction. There is never a reason to use toners with strong synthetic fragrances or essential oils. Some ingredients like organic aloe vera provides a gentle, nice soft scent no added fragrance.
KEEP IT SIMPLE
If your skin dry, using a toner in the morning is all you need. After applying toner, Use a good moisturizer, followed by a sunblock with an SPF 15 or higher.
SOOTHING BENEFITS
Using a super soft and soothing toner is a major step after use of exfoliant such as glycolic acid. Healing and nourishing ingredients like aloe vera and cucumber could provide both moisturizing and healing properties.
Using a gentle toner with no alcohol, perfumes and artificial colors can be a wonderful step in your skincare offering. Not only can the extra gentle cleansing benefits, but it can help improve the skin hydrated and younger looking.
