There is much misinformation circulating on the internet on flea control for pets and natural flea control products such as neem. Many people have heard of neem oil, but do not really know much about whether and how to use it safely with pets.
Take is the collective name for two closely related species in the Meliaceae family:
- Azadirachta indica A. Juss (commonly known as the Indian neem, Margosa tree or Indian lilac)
- Melia Azadirachta (commonly known as The Persian lilac).
Take leaves, bark and the oil expressed from these plants are used for medical purposes in India and neighboring countries for thousands years. Take Two compounds are credited with insecticide activity (and azadirachtin salannin). Azadirachtin acts as a deterrent and insect growth regulator eat. Unlike to what most people believe, does not take a quick knockdown and kill, but stops insects treated in different life stages of moult, so they die without reproducing.
One of the few references to the use of neem in native animals and bizarre Drugs Useful in the treatment of animals (1929) where a number of veterinary applications of the neem and notes that "leaves, bark and oil expressed from the seed lists are generally used." However, Take-based products of only one license in the U.S. for pests control since 1985. Take diluted and is often used in pet shampoos, flea sprays, surface sprays, sachets and ora many commercial opportunities exist in the pet flea product market.

Before an herb or essential oils on pets, you should contact your veterinarian, as many natural products are toxic to some animals. Remember that pets senses are much more sensitive than that of a man so use scented oils or herbs with a little restraint.
